The detailed report tracking down the billions thrown around in the Biden climate spending spree should be an aid to Director Vought.
(Washington, DC) – With President Biden’s tumultuous tenure in office ended, a question still lingers in the crisp, February air: how much did his administration spend on climate change? The Functional Government Initiative (FGI) has tracked down much of those taxpayer dollars in a new report, “Investigating the Biden Administration’s Climate Spending Extravaganza.” FGI sent the report to the newly confirmed Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Russell Vought.
The report tracks down billions of dollars the Biden administration burned through in the name of catastrophic climate change. President Biden lavished taxpayer money on internal government climate plans, massive grants to special interests and the climate industry, and various cynically political efforts.
“As you work to implement President Trump’s budget priorities and promote his agenda, this report could be a helpful guide to target many areas where the previous administration allocated vast sums,” FGI wrote to Director Vought. “Because these programs were given so much money so quickly, there are significant concerns over transparency, efficiency, and sustainability.”
Upon taking office, President Biden declared climate change to be a top priority for his administration, which led to widespread government action in the executive and legislative branches that has adversely impacted the economy and Americans’ lives overall. These actions included sweeping executive orders, inter-agency task forces, Climate Action Plans, and massive spending legislation, primarily embodied in the Inflation Reduction Act. A key driver of this increase in spending is Executive Order 14008, “Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad,” which introduced the Justice40 Initiative. This policy required 40% of overall benefits of federal investments in climate, clean energy, and environmental programs to flow to disadvantaged communities.
FGI has identified nearly 700 potential programs that allocate significant taxpayer resources toward climate-related initiatives. The cumulative budget of these programs exceeds $700 billion – but the actual figure may be significantly higher.
FGI’s report also identifies opportunities for optimizing federal environmental expenditures and introducing appropriate oversight to an unprecedented infusion of taxpayer funds across agencies and programs that have lacked transparency and sufficient controls in place to monitor expenditures.
Roderick Law, spokesman for FGI, issued the following statement:
“The Biden Administration’s approach to climate change can be described in three simple words: ‘spend, baby, spend. We expect that, like the rest of the new administration, Director Vought and his staff will hit the ground running, and we hope this roadmap to President Biden’s reckless climate spree will help provide momentum.”
